Cheap Vacuum Cleaners - Is a Cheap Vacuum Cleaner a Good Value?

With the state of the economy today, most of us are looking for the best value on all of our purchases. Since vacuum cleaners are expensive, finding one that offers the best value is a top priority for many people. Well known brands like Eureka, Dyson and Kirby can cost a lot of money but there are lesser known brands that can be pretty cheap comparatively. Are these cheap vacuum cleaners a good purchase?

There are several things to consider when reviewing cheap vacuum cleaners and trying to determine if a specific one is a good purchase. Below is vacuum cleaner parts of factors to look at.

1) Construction. How well is the unit constructed? If the vacuum is not built well, what's the point? If it is not well constructed, it will not be durable and will therefore not be considered a good value. There are two ways to determine how durable a cheap vacuum will be. First, look at the warranty terms. If they are bad, chances are its for a reason. The manufacturer most likely knows that the unit will not hold up and therefore does not offer a warranty that they will have to honor. Secondly, read some vacuum cleaner reviews. The people who already own the vacuum will let you know how long it lasts and how well it is built.

2) Power. The power of the suction determines whether or not the unit will do the job well enough. Look at the amount of amps it draws when in use. Most companies will print the number right on the box. If it's not displayed, chances are it's not a very high number and therefore not a good buy.

3) Filter. The biggest problem with a cheap vacuum cleaner is usually the filter. No matter if it's an upright, a bagless, or a canister vacuum cleaner, if the filter is not of high quality, you are just spreading dust around the house. This is not to say that it has to have a HEPA filter, the filter should just be good enough to stop all of the dust and dirt from being expelled into the air.
